Description	:	Lester Crane, 93, of Scottsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. Born Dec. 31, 1919 in Florala, Ala., he was the son of Carl C. and Ethel A. Weeks Crane. He was retired from Cummins Engine and member of First Baptist Church of Scottsburg. He was the former deacon at Scaffold Lick Baptist Church and member of Scottsburgh Masonic Lodge F&AM #572 over 50 years; charter member of Blocher Fire Department; previous Democrat precinct committeeman; previous member of Township Advisory Board; former postmaster of Blocher; and a 1938 graduate of Scottsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World... Read More	Lester Crane, 93, of Scottsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. Born Dec. 31, 1919 in Florala, Ala., he was the son of Carl C. and Ethel A. Weeks Crane. He was retired from Cummins Engine and member of First Baptist Church of Scottsburg. He was the former deacon at Scaffold Lick Baptist Church and member of Scottsburgh Masonic Lodge F&AM #572 over 50 years; charter member of Blocher Fire Department; previous Democrat precinct committeeman; previous member of Township Advisory Board; former postmaster of Blocher; and a 1938 graduate of Scottsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his son, David L. (Marilyn) Crane; daughter, Linda K. (Kenny) Couch, both of Scottsburg; sister, Marjorie Harmon, of Lovett; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Crane; two brothers, Lloyd Crane and Virgil Crane; and sister, Ruth Harmon. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Self officiating. Burial will follow in Scaffold Lick Cemetery with a military graveside service. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
