Description	:	Robert Lewis Walker, 78, died Friday. Born in Ohio, he was a son of the late Harold K and Martha Trimble Walker. He joined Kappa Alpha fraternity while a freshman at Bethany College of West Virginia and graduated in 1935 from Ohio State University. He did graduate work at Ohio State University, the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina, Clemson University, the University of Maryland, and the US Department of Agriculture graduate school in Washington, DC. Born in Ohio, he was a son of the late Harold K and Martha Trimble Walker. He joined Kappa Alpha fraternity while a freshman at Bethany College of West Virginia and graduated in 1935 from Ohio State University. He did graduate work at Ohio State University, the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina, Clemson University, the University of Maryland, and the US Department of Agriculture graduate school in Washington, DC. He taught at Candor, NC high school and at Edmunston High School of Sumter. In 1942, he accepted a permenant assignment to the Department of Agriculture, serving in New Orleans, Montgomery, Alabama, Florence and Beltsville, MD. In 1952 and 1953, he was assigned to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to work on cotton insects in Iraq. He returned to Beltsville and retired in 1971 as investigations leader in chemical research of pesticides. He had been published many times and was listed in American Men of Science. He was a member of the South Carolina, Maryland and American Entomological societies, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Maryland Ornitholocial Society, and the Audubon Society. He was a Mason and a member of Brunson United Methodist Church, where he was Sunday school superintendent. He was married to the late Mrs Erma Lee Walker. Surviving are daughters Mrs Matha Walker Hood and Jane Walker Doyle, both of Washington, DC; and his twin brother, James T Walker of Columbus, Ohio. Services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Methodist Home Chapel of Orangeburg. Peeples Rhoden of Hampton is in charge.
