Description	:	Robert Lloyd Lytle, 70, a former mayor of Washington and a resident here all of his life, died in hospital at Iowa City. Mr. Lytle had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. Through his connections with the Washington city government for 14 years as major, and his activities in the grocery business here over a period of 51 years, Mr. Lytle had become one of Washington's most prominent citizens. Read More	Robert Lloyd Lytle, 70, a former mayor of Washington and a resident here all of his life, died in hospital at Iowa City. Mr. Lytle had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. Through his connections with the Washington city government for 14 years as major, and his activities in the grocery business here over a period of 51 years, Mr. Lytle had become one of Washington's most prominent citizens. He had also served on the board of the Iowa League of Municipalities, was a member of the Methodist church, the Knights of Pythias lodge and was a charter member of the Rotary club. Mr. Lytle observed his 50th anniversary as an active businessman in Washington on Feb. 22, 1950. He had opened his store here on that same date in 1900 when he was only 19 years old. For a time he was in partnership with J. W. Kaye, buying out his partner a few years later. He was born June 27, 1880 in Washington, the son of Alexander and Laura V. Cunningham. He was reared and educated in this community. On April 20, 1904, he was married to Edith Wilson who is among his survivors. Other survivors include four sons, Charles A. of Boston, Robert L. Jr., of Washington, Carlton W. of Minneapolis and John C. of Oskaloosa; five grandsons and three granddaughters; and two brothers, F. Merle of Washington and C. Luther of St. Louis, Mo. One brother, W. A. Lytle preceded him in death.
