He was born Aug 29, 1939 to Oscar and Florence Mahlman Nitzel near Hallam. He was baptized at the First Congregational Church in Hallam by Pastor Gross on Nov 5, 1939. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Kauffeld on June 21, 1964. He graduated from Crete High School and Milford Trade School specializing in electronics. He married Donna Wohl on Sept 23, 1962 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Kauffeld officiating. Bob lived in the Crete area all of his life. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church for 33 years. He served as president of the congregation, as an elder, the treasurer, and as a member on the building committee for the parsonage. For 28 years he worked for the State of Nebraska as a radio technician. When he retired from the state, he continued to farm, which he loved. He was also a member of the National Guard. He loved collecting toy tractors, his farming, and his cattle. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Traci Nitzel; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Marty Dello of Crete; father, Oscar Nitzel of Crete; grandchildren, Tanna and Trevor Nitzel, Angela and Tory Dello; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and LaVonne Nitzel, Howard and Becky Nitzel, all of Crete; a sister, Peggy Bresson of Crete, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Nitzel. Funeral services were held Feb 25 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer with Pastor John Heckmann officiating. Organist was Gloria Pospisil. Interment was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Reetz, Dick Schneider, Loren Beck, Brian Reetz, Brent Wohl, Doug Nitzel, Ken Nitzel, and Joe Muff. Memorials are to the church. Kuncl Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ******** A 57-year-old Crete man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Sat afternoon at a county road intersection southeast of Crete. Robert Nitzel, 1010 Crestline Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at the intersection of County Roads 2350 and H (near the former District 88 rural school) about 2:35 p.m. **********
