Obituary from unnamed newspaper August 1937: Robert Bandauer passes After Illness Had Been Confined to His Home for Many Months With Long Illness. Robert Louis Bandhauer passed away at the family home Thursday, August 12, after a lingering illness of many years. Mr. Bandhauer was stricken with infantile paralysis as a child. For the past ten years he has been confined to his home in the south part of town. Although unable to go about, he was always glad to have callers and took pleasure in visiting with them about the affairs of the community. Born in Missouri, he came to Kansas with his parents at an early age, moving first to Sylvia, and coming to Kingfan in 1909. Following the death of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bandhauer, he continued to make his home in the family residence, with his sisters, Miss Bertha and Miss Anna Bandhauer. Funeral services for Mr. Bandhauer were conducted at the Methodist church, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Reverend C.C. Brown in charge. Interment was in the Sylvia cemetery. Robert Louis Bandhauer, son of Julius and Amelia Bandhauer was born December 6, 1872, at Canton, Missouri. He died at his home in Kingman, Kansas, August 12, 1937. When a child he came with his parents to a farm near Sylvia, Kansas. He grew to young manhood there and in 1909 he moved to Kingman where he has since resided. He united with the Methodist church in early childhood. He loved the church and always attended when his affliction did not prevent. He spent much time in the reading of his Bible. When a child he contracted spinal meningitis which left him physically afflicted and in later years he was confined to his home. In his affliction he was always patient, seldom complaining. He appreciated his friends and was always thankful for their consideration of him. He is survived by four sisters, Anna and Bertha of the home, Mrs. Lulu Johnson, Kingman, and Mrs. Louis Ray, Los Angeles, California. Several nieces and nephews and other relative and friends who mourn his passing. Three brothers, one sister and his father and mother preceded him in death.
