Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. He died Thursday, 24 January 2019, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Robert L. “Bob” McDaniel was born 7 October 1929, in Norfolk to Joseph and Rose (Brasch) McDaniel. He was baptized on 10 July 1932, and confirmed 30 May 1943, both at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He attended Norfolk Public School. He married on 4 February 1951, at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Robert worked for Consumer Public Power (now Nebraska Public Power) for several years after high school. He served in the United States Army from 25 September 1951 to 2 September 1953, during the Korean War. After returning from the service Bob and Arnetta then moved and farmed north of Norfolk. Bob moved to Norfolk in 1986 and he continued farming until 1998. During the winter months while farming he also worked at Lutz John Deere Implement north of Norfolk. Bob enjoyed spending their winters in Sun City, Arizona, from 1998 until 2009 when Bob’s health started to fail. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, pen making, Nebraska Cornhusker football, decorative lighting and especially spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of Norfolk VFW Post 1644 and American Legion Post 16 of Norfolk; member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska Beef Club, past member of the Norfolk Booster Club and a past member of the Aquanuts Boat and Ski Club. Survivors include his spouse, 2 sons, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; a sister; and a brother. He was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Rose; sister and brother-in-law Ruth (Bob) McClurkin; and brother-in-law Leon Schaefer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family or Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
