He was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Wawaka. His parents were Keith and Maude M. (Martin) Krippner. He married Barbra H. Surfus on Sept. 16, 1945, in Albion. She preceded him in death March 17, 1990. Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Atkinson of Greenwood; one son, Richard Krippner of Bellevue, Wash.; and three grandchildren. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He later was the ROTC instructor for eight years at New Haven High School in New Haven. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Brenda Ginder will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Monday at the Brazzell Funeral Home in Albion. Friends may call from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
