Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church. Reverend Stephen Pera and Pastor Cheryl Hollich will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Bobby Ross, Larry Ross, Bill Ross, Mike Beal, and Tim Stevens. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Homes. ‘Bob' was born on April 5, 1918, the son of Leslie and Gertrude Sylvester Brocket. He married Alvina Schroeder on October 22, 1938, at Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on November 30, 1995. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the US Army. He is a Bronze Star award recipient from World War II. He worked for Henderson Chevrolet Oldsmobile Dealership and retired in 1981. He also ran a service station on Mulberry Avenue, He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 27, and the Moose Lodge No. 388. He is survived by a son, Raymond Gene Brocket and wife, Judy, of Burlington; one grandson, Jamie Brocket of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clifford Brocket of Cambridge, Illinois and Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Richard ‘Dick' Brocket, and a sister, Frances Ross.
