If you knew Robert "Bob" Twiss this was his standard greeting for anyone he met. Bob was born in Wray, Colorado July 28, 1939 to Rex and Ruth Twiss. His father, Rex, managed various ranches north of Wray on which he grew up. He was the second of 5 children. He had an older sister Joanne, younger brothers Burton and Lynn and little sister Janie. At age six or so he discovered he had mechanical ability when he removed the starter from his dad's car and couldn't reassemble it, so he buried it. It wasn't long till he could take ‘em apart and put ‘em back together and began chauffeuring siblings and cousins in his coyote wagon to and from their one room schoolhouse. This early aptitude for making things run led to his life's vocation as a mechanic in the Air Force. Bob did very well in school and as one teacher commented to his parents, "Bob learns lots of things but not out of my books." He also read a complete set of encyclopedias when he was in high school and used bits and pieces of that information when needed throughout his life. Bob met Carol Schakelaar when they were small children and then later in High School started dating and married on April 8, 1959. To this union were born three children Kent, Launa, & Steve. Their marriage started a whirl wind of travel for the United States Air Force; including such places as Riverside CA, Topeka KS, Clark Air Force Base the Philippines, Travis Air Force Base CA, Andrews Air Force Base Maryland and finally Colorado Springs Colorado. He retired from the Air Force with a good conduct medal and commendation with a rank of Tech-sergeant. After 20 years of service, he moved back ‘home' to Wray in 1978. At that time, in his words, he got a high tech job of digging ditches. He started his own trenching business at which he worked the remainder of his life. He is preceded in death by parents Rex & Ruth Twiss, in-laws Al & Bernice Schakelaar, brother Burt, brothers-in-law Floyd Renzelman & John Deal. Survived by: Wife Carol, Son Kent & Becky Twiss; daughter Launa & Stan Holmes; and son Steve & Janice Twiss; Sister JoAnne Johnson; Sister in Law, Colleen Twiss; Brother Lynn & Sharon Twiss; sister Janie & Doyle Kier; sisters in law Nadine Renzelman and Ferne Deal and brother in law Paul & Lovina Schakelaar. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren Chad & Jamie Twiss Braylon & Brinley; Shawn Twiss and Alyssa Sheldon & Camdyn; Brittany & Dan Timmer; Kellyn Twiss, C. J. Twiss; Lindsey, Jamey & Michael Holmes & Jay Novak; Garret & Mackenzie Twiss and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Bob enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He also loved motorcycles, scooters, boats,(basically anything with a motor). He also enjoyed reading, pulling kids in the snow on a sled made from an old car hood; or rigging homemade trailers behind the mower. And last but certainly not least he loved a good joke.
