Read More	Wenatchee World - Thursday, November 26, 2009 Robert Duvall, 85, a longtime resident of Wenatchee and member of the greatest generation, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2009. He was born on August 19, 1924, at Everett, WA to Guy Duvall and Frances Nelson. He spent his early years growing up in the Skagit Valley and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. On his first furlough home, he married Lillian Jensen and they had five children. They were later divorced. Robert was an aerial gunner in World War II and was part of the Normandy, Northern France and Germany invasions. Among other medals, he received the Air Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. After his 30 missions, he was sent back to Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. While at FAFB, the Korean conflict broke out and, by Presidential order, his enlistment was extended. He then flew in the Korean conflict and earned his American Theatre, Korean, WWII Victory and Presidential Citation medals. After his discharge from the Air Force, he lived and farmed in Quincy, WA. He was baptized into the LDS church in 1970, where he met Valena Duvall. Bob and Valena were married on June 20, 1972, in the Los Angeles Temple. As a member of the Church, he served as Counselor in the Twisp Branch and he also served a church calling as a Chaplain, visiting patients in hospitals, which he loved. Many people around the Wenatchee Valley got to know Bob while he was a salesman for Goodyear Tires and Bowman Distribution. Bob also had many Veteran friends while affiliated with the Wenatchee V.F.W. Bob found one of his flying buddies, Del Schafer, and visited him in Florida. Upon visiting Del, he became ill and upon returning from that trip, he was admitted into the Soldier's Home in Orting, WA. He spent his last two months in Cashmere, at the convalescent home, where he passed away. He is survived by his wife, Valena Duvall of Wenatchee; one son, Rob (Debbie) Duvall of Edmonds; and four daughters, Jeannie (Bill Stockman) of Olympia, Kathy (Ray Smith) of Bellingham, Connie Murray of Seattle and Becky (Ron Shockley) of Tucson, AZ. He also has three surviving stepsons, Jim (Debbie) Younkin of Provo, UT, Dave (Glenna) Younkin of Cashmere and Mark Younkin of Simi Valley, CA; along with a brother, Ernie (Yvonne) Duvall of Longview, WA; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A special Viewing will be held Friday, November, 27, 2009, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee. His Funeral Service will be held at the LDS Church on Maiden Lane in Wenatchee on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., followed by Burial and Dedication at the Sunnyslope Cemetery.
