"Bob" Swenson, son of Emil and Olena (Danielson) Swenson, was born November 21, 1925 on a farm near Valley Springs, SD. He graduated from Beaver Creek (MN) High School in 1943. Bob was united in marriage with Alphie Wallenberg on April 19, 1948 in Hills, MN. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1953, they made their permanent home in Corson, SD, where they raised their seven children. Bob began working at the Sioux Falls Stockyards in 1948. He eventually became owner of Siouxland Farmers Livestock Sales. He retired in 1990. Bob also owned and operated his road grader for 60-plus years. He enjoyed and took great pride in maintaining the roads. Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family. In his spare time, he loved to play cards with his family and friends, watch football and take his best friend, Bailey, for afternoon rides. Bob also enjoyed spending time at his lake home at Lake Madison. Bob was known for his oyster stew and Tom & Jerry's on Christmas Eve. Family traditions were very important to him. Blessed to have had him in their lives are five children, Jeff Swenson, Brandon, SD, Bobby (Holly) Swenson Jr., Brandon, SD, Charlene (special friend, Paul Poncelet) Swenson, Sioux Falls, SD, Julie (Kevin) Hauger, Brandon, SD, Mike (Peggy) Swenson, Corson, SD; a son-in-law, Carl Hoskins, Deadwood, SD; seven grandchildren, Danielle (John) Merrow, Travis Kapsch, Tobi (Rob Waterbury) Thompson, Jesse (Heather) VanderMaten, Nicole (Jeremy) Haug, Chelsea (Ed Beal) Nelson, Luke Swenson; nine great-grandchildren, Destiny, Haley, Austin, Trevor, Jazlyn, Dylan, Taylor, Mason, Sally Jo; many nieces and nephews; his best friend and loyal canine companion, Bailey; and a host of other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Alphie, on March 25, 2013; two daughters, Sally Nelson, Donna Hoskins; a son-in-law, Jeff Nelson; his parents, Emil and Olena Swenson; five brothers, Delmer, Elert, Orville, Oliver and Clair Swenson; and four sisters, Pearl Tanner, Mavis Cassel and infants Blanche and Pearl.
