Inurnment will be in New Hill Cemetery of Anaconda. Bob died Monday evening, Feb. 6, 2006, at his Helena residence after a courageous battle with lung disease. Inurnment will be in New Hill Cemetery of Anaconda. Bob died Monday evening, Feb. 6, 2006, at his Helena residence after a courageous battle with lung disease. Robert was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Jamestown, N.D., to Otto Wilhelm and Mabel Josephine (Larson) Schulz. The family moved to Brockton, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Brockton High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army in May 1943 and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged in January 1946. He returned to Montana and continued his education at Northern Montana College in Havre, transferring to University of Montana, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting. He married Othelia Anna Hekkel on June 15, 1949, in Froid. They moved to Anaconda in 1950. Bob worked 32 years as an accountant for the Anaconda Co., retiring on Dec. 31, 1983. Bob and Othelia moved to Helena in June 2004 to be closer to family. Bob was very active in Hope Lutheran Church of Anaconda and was a present member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Helena. He was a 31-year member of Elks Lodge 239, American Legion Post 21 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1876. Amateur radio was a big part of Bob's life, his call sign was NI7Q. He and Othelia loved to ballroom dance and in his younger years, he was active in the Anaconda Archery Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Othelia, at the Helena residence; sons, James Robert of Helena, William Edward and wife Teresa of Helena; numerous relatives and close friends. Services and cremation are under the care of KT Riddle Funeral Homes, Anaconda. Memorials: Hospice of St. Peter's, Helena, Camp Mak-A-Dream, Westmont of Helena, or donor's choice.
