Description	:	Robert Perry Lewis, 90, life long farmer and resident of the Indian Springs community near Mount Olive, passed away Friday evening, June 24, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, while surrounded by his family. He is survived by three sons and their wives, Skippy and Judy Lewis, George S. "Butch" and Mary Dell Lewis, and Steve and Emma Kaye Lewis, all of the Indian Springs community; five grandchildren, Scott Lewis and wife, Missy, Shelton Lewis and wife, Lisa, Duane Lewis and wife, Jennifer, Stevie Lewis and wife, Sara, and Stephanie West and husband, Bert; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Lewis, Garrett Lewis, Carter Lewis, Matthew Lewis, and Sara Kathryn Lewis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elmer Webler Lewis; his parents, Robert Kelly "Bob" and Lucy Jones Lewis; his six siblings, Viola Hines, Fred Lewis, Tom Lewis, Callie Wicker, Willie Barwick, and Inez Whitfield; and also his long time farming partner as well as brother-in-law, B. R. "Bootly" Whitfield. Born and raised in the Indian Springs community, and where he lived his entire life, he started a farming operation now known as Lewis Farms, working alongside his family, and even in later years after his health forced him to retire, he continued to enjoy those rides in the combine, and trips to the mill with "the boys." He was instrumental in its beginning and was a charter member of Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Later on, he joined Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church. Perry was a simple man who loved the farming way of life. He enjoyed growing a pretty vegetable garden and was appreciative of all that the land provided. His life will be remembered in a service to be held Monday evening, June 27, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, to be officiated by the Rev. Mickey Whitfield and Michael Sykes, with visitation to immediately follow. Interment will be Tuesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with words of committal to be offered by the Rev. Dustin Bannister.
