Alderson, Greenbrier County WV, Feb 13 - Robert Porter Boyd, 81 years old, died Saturday evening at six o'clock at his home on Eagle Branch following an illness of several months of heart disease and complications. Alderson, Greenbrier County WV, Feb 13 - Robert Porter Boyd, 81 years old, died Saturday evening at six o'clock at his home on Eagle Branch following an illness of several months of heart disease and complications. During the past week, Mr Boyd suffered two paralytic strokes and on Wednesday his condition became critical and little hope was held for his recovery. He was a son of the late George and Carolyn Boyd and was born on Eagle Branch, where he spent his entire life as a farmer. He was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist church for more than fifty years. Mr Boyd was united in marriage to Miss Sallie Conner, who survives. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children, Mrs Anna Mann, Clayton; Walter Boyd, Ernest Boyd, Homer Boyd, Orville Boyd, Fred Boyd, Miss Della and Miss Mattie Boyd, all of Alderson; one brother, N A Boyd, of Alderson, and one sister Miss Rachel Boyd, of Fayetteville. Funeral services were to be conducted Monday afternoon at the home and burial will be made in the Alderson cemetery.Services were to be conducted by Rev Ray Tindell, of the Baptist church.
