Description	:	Robert was the son of Rowland Davis. He served in the Civil War as a Union soldier in the Pennsylvania Militia. He enlisted on 5 August 1861. At the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5, 1864 Robert was captured and spent nearly a year in Andersonville prison. He was discharged on 22 June 1865. Following the war, he returned to his hometown before moving to Knoxville, Illinois. There Robert married Jane Eliza "Jennie" Davis on 4 March 1868, which Reverend George W. Brown officiated.
