He was born January 11, 1923 to Percy E. and Carrie E. (Naylor) Blakesley in Natoma, Kansas. Robert attended Holyoke High School and then joined the United States Army. He joined the Army on May 8, 1944 and was discharged on April 25, 1946. He served in Europe during World War II. On July 28, 1960, he married E. Marie Cocanougher in Memphis, Texas. They were blessed with 48 years together. Robert worked with the American Dusting Company doing Aerial Spraying for 25 years and worked for County Express for 10 years. Robert was a very generous and helpful person especially to his bus driving kids and senior citizens. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Carrie Blakesley and his brother, Harold Blakesley. Robert will be missed by his wife Marie of Holyoke; sisters Ruby Roll and Marjorie Roberts of Holyoke and Eva LaRene Lytle of Northglenn; brother Clarence Blakesley and wife Vada of Holyoke; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. A memorial service is planned Thursday, November 6 at 10 a.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke, with Pastor Gordon Penfold officiating. Inurnment will be in Holyoke Memorial Park. Baucke Funeral Home will direct the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Holyoke.
