Description	:	Robert Roy Johnson, 77, Sherwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at a Minot nursing home. Bob was born March 28, 1937, in Malta, Mont., to Wilbur and Alice (Flem) Johnson. He was raised in Malta until the family moved to Sherwood in 1947. He graduated from Sherwood High School in 1955. Bob served in the Navy from December 1955 to December 1959. Bob was born March 28, 1937, in Malta, Mont., to Wilbur and Alice (Flem) Johnson. He was raised in Malta until the family moved to Sherwood in 1947. He graduated from Sherwood High School in 1955. Bob served in the Navy from December 1955 to December 1959. He spent 2 years in the Philippines and received the Good Conduct Medal. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Geology. He was once married to Linda Shefveland; together they had two children. He lived in Alaska for 30-plus years and worked in the commercial real estate market. He returned to Sherwood in the early 1990s. He enjoyed his years at UND; he considered it a great school with the added benefit of watching several years of the very best college hockey in the country. His favorite memories were of games between UND and Minnesota and Wisconsin. While in college, he was a member of the UND Flying Club, president of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, president of the UND Inter-fraternity Council, president of the UND Veterans Club and a member of the East Grand Forks VFW Post. Bob considered Alaska the most beautiful place to live. While living there, he was a member of the Alaska Miners Association, Alaska Geological Society, Alaska Native Brotherhood and a nine-year member of the Anchorage Parks and Recreation. He coached youth hockey for six years and youth soccer for seven years for the Anchorage Hockey Association and for the Anchorage Boys and Girls Club. Family: children, Stephen Johnson, Lowell, Ore., and Catherine "Carrie" Johnson, Whitefish, Mont.; granddaughter, Kylee Johnson, of Lowell; sister, Jean Larson, Minot; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by: his parents; grandparents; sister, Gay Johnson; and ex-wife, Linda Johnson. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood. Burial: in the spring in Sherwood Union Cemetery. (Brose Funeral Home, Mohall)
