Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday November 27, 2012. The Rev. Keith Bundy will officiate at the First Baptist Church Madison. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Graceland Cemetery Madison. Public Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM Monday with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM at the Randall Funeral Home Madison. Robert Rusten Lowe was born October 4, 1922 at Hitchcock, SD. the son of Amos and Alice (Hughs) Lowe. As a child he lived in various communities until the family moved to Madison, SD in 1929. He attended school in Frankfort, Junius, and Beadle High In Madison. He was drafted in to the Army during WWII. prior to finishing his High School education. He served in the European Theater of Operations with the 311th. Combat Engineers Battalion, 86th. Infantry for two years. He than returned to the States and was an M.P. (Military Police) guarding German P.O. W. 'S at camps in California and Arizona. He was discharged at Camp McCoy, WI. Robert was united in marriage to Betty Lou Kohlway on June 2, 1946 ast Lake Preston, SD. After the war he worked as a carpenter with his dad and did mechanic work for many area businesses. On September 1, 1955 he opened Bob's East Side Texaco a business he operated until 1979. He than worked for the Gehl Company and as a Custodian for Dakota State University. He also taught Auto Mechanics at Madison Centeral High School. He was known far and wide as a very skilled mechanic. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Madison, where he served as Trustee, Deacon and Moderator. He was also a member oif the Izaack Walton League of America, a member of the V.F.W. and Post #23 American Legion both of Madison. Bob is lovingly rembered by his wife: Betty of Madison, two sons: Robert W. Lowe and Rollin (Budd) Lowe, both of Madison, two daughters: Rebecca Lowe, of Brookings, and Rhonda (Gary) Habeger, Madison, a grandson: Wade Lowe, three granddaughters: Erin Johnson, Katelyn Habeger and Jeni Habeger, four great-grandchildern many nieces and nephews, a brother: Milo (Marlyn) Lowe, Washington State, a sister: Ann (Babe) Holter, Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. BLESSED BE HIS MEMORY
