When the message of Stanley’s sickness rang over the line and the seriousness of his condition, people were dazed and waited with eagerness to hear the final word. When the sad message came Monday morning that Stanley McCollister was dead, hearts were turned into sadness and many friends wept most bitterly with the sorrowing ones to think that one so young in years, so bright and sweet, one who endeared himself to all that knew him, had passed from this world to a home above. One little bud that bloomed on earth like the rose with all her fragrance has gone to bloom in the heavens and there shed its beauty in realms above. Gone from a home of fond parents that loved thee; Gone to those realms afar; Gone to a Savior who gave but recalled thee, To shine in His diadem, beautiful star. Dear little hands oft reached out to me; Dear little form that sat on my knee; One little voice that prattled in love, Now is singing with angels above. Short services w ere held in the yard at the home Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Rev. J. F. Hawk of Lone Tree. He spoke many words of comtort to the dear father and mother and pictured them away by words where comfort could be gotten from one where no other strength and peace cometh and to lean on the arms of the everlasting Savior. We know that death seems bitter to them and words spoken at this hour seem like silent mockery. But some sweet day all tears shall be wiped away and we shall understand. Dear little Stanley, how we all shall miss you, a place made vacant that never can be filled, yet we know that thou art home and sweetly resting, so sleep in Jesus, blessed sleep, in which none ever wake to weep. Two beautiful selections were sang by Mrs. W. C. Moffitt and Miss Ethyl McCullough. The remains were taken to Iowa City and laid in the McCollister vault. The parents and other relatives have the deepest sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
