Read More	Falmouth Enterprise, Thursday, March 10, 1932; Page: 6 Blacksmith Robert Bowman Succumbs at 62 Conducted Shop During Forty Years At West Falmouth Robert Taber Bowman, well known West Falmouth blacksmith, died Friday night, March 4, at Cape Cod hospital, Hyannis, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He was a native of West Falmouth, 62 years of age, son of the late Capt. Ebenezer and Susan Bowman, and proprietor of a blacksmith shop in the village for 40 years. He established the garage which he sold and which is now owned by Harold Underwood. Two years ago his eyesight failed and he was forced to give up work. A hand-made shoeing rack and well worn tools with which he worked for many years are now an exhibit in Henry Ford's collection of Americana at the Edison Institute of Technology at Dearborn, Mich. A story appearing in the Falmouth Enterprise last year at the time the paper moved into its new quarters on Depot avenue and turned over the old Cranston press purchased in 1887 to the institute, prompted Mrs. Bowman to communicate with officials at Dearborn and resulted in the shoeing box being forwarded. In the last years of his work when fewer horses were being employed and blacksmith shops were not so plentiful Mr. Bowman conducted a branch shop at Pocasset, spending part of a day there for the convenience of patrons in that section. Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife, the former Adeline E. Hamblin, Marstons Mills, a son Roger R. Bowman, West Falmouth, a daughter, Mrs. Lewis R. Studley, Falmouth Heights, and four grandchildren, Roger R. Bowman, Jr., and Betsy, Phyllis and Virginia Studley. He also leaves a brother, Eben S. Bowman, Sandwich, niece, Mrs. A.J. Zachau, North Attleboro, nephew, Warren Bowman, Springfield, and several cousins. Funeral service was held Monday from the West Falmouth M.E. church, the pastor, Rev. A. W. Jackson officiating. Committal service at the Friends' cemetery, West Falmouth, was in charge of Marine Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of which Mr. Bowman was a member. Bearers were Harold Underwood, Roy Bowman, Adrian Adams, Herbert Tilton, Harold Baker and Charles F. Miller.
