Born Sept. 21, 1903, in Stanly County, Mr. Cook was a son of the late Jim Alexander and Rena Poplin Cook. A retired carpenter and farmer, he was a member of Poplin's Grove Baptist Church. His wife, Zula Burleson Cook, died March 1, 1986. A son, R.V. Cook Jr., also preceded him in death.
