He graduated from high school. He married Mary Louise (DeGraaff) Blessing Aug. 15, 1940, in Dakota County. He owned and operated Bob's Bar In South Sioux City for 37 years. He was a Dakota County commissioner from January 1959 to December 1974. After his retirement, the couple moved to California in 1977. Mr. Blessing was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert D. Blessing and his wife, Patricia and a stepson, Richard D. Blessing, all of South Sioux City; a daughter, Virginia E. and her husband, Richard Hogrefe of San Jose, Calif.; a stepdaughter Elaine M. and her husband, Roy Paradise of South Sioux City; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John, Raymond and Harold. Pallbearers will be Gary, Mike and David Blessing, Richard Hogrefe, Bob Wolfe and Donald Stoltze.
