He was born March 18, 1913, in Bidwell to Benjamin F. and Lura Brooks Walters. He married Ruth Johnson in Ottumwa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed by John Morrell in Ottumw'a until retiring, and was an amateur radio operator going by the handle of "Chipmunk". He was preceded in death by ll brothers and sisters. The service will be ll a m. Friday at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Tim Dobson of Ottumwa Community Church officiating.
