Description	:	Robert "Bob" W. King, 85 of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. Mr. King was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Denver to Robert and Edith (Stewart) King. He was united in marriage to Virginia "Virgie" Waskoviak on Jan. 22, 1950, in Loup City. She preceded him in death. Read More	Robert "Bob" W. King, 85 of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. Mr. King was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Denver to Robert and Edith (Stewart) King. He was united in marriage to Virginia "Virgie" Waskoviak on Jan. 22, 1950, in Loup City. She preceded him in death. Survivors of the immediate family include fours sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shirley King of Loup City, Patrick and Christy King of Grand Island, Timothy and Connie King of Lincoln, Todd and Angela King of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Tim Lessig of Grand Island, Susan and Mike Jarzynka of Loup City; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gena King of Grand Junction Colo.; and a sister, Virginia Hansen of Denver. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Scott and Tracy King, Brittany and Jensen Lessig, Bobbie Jo and Ali King, Joshua and April King, Aaron Jarzynka, Judd Jarzynka, and Matthew Jarzynka; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Chase, Lincoln and Guy, James, Madeline and Austyn; and a sister-in-law, Micki Lowry of Grand Island. He grew up in Denver attending school there. He entered the United States Navy, June 8, 1942, serving in the Mediterranean/North African area and Pacific Theatre during World War II and was honorably discharged Dec. 5, 1945. Upon leaving the service, he returned to Denver where he became employed with the Bureau of Reclamation. He was transferred to the Grand Island office working there from 1948 to 1968. He resided in Loup City. He and Virgie resided here until relocating to Grand Island in 1979 where they remained. He worked for Ford New Holland from 1968 until his retirement in 1988. Mrs. King preceded him in death on June 14, 2007. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Loup City American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and Husker football. He was a great storyteller. He was also preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joe Heimlich; brothers-in-law, Philip Lowry and Vern Hansen.
