Dr. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Iroquois. Pallbearers will be as follows: Active, Robert Anderson, Frank and Robert Fenner, Ken Allen, Elmer Kracht, Lloyd Sammons; honorary, Faye Sutton, Wilson Jelgerhuis, Herman Jans, Glen Burrington, Burton Bruha and Clarence Bensley. Robert Wayne Allen was born March 15, 1911, to Ross and Davena Allen near Esmond. In 1911 the family moved to the Manchester community and attended the Manchester School. He married Lois Drake, June 6, 1936, at De Smet. For 18 years he farmed the McAllister farm near Manchester and was active in community affairs. In 1954 he moved to De Smet and continued farming and was engaged in custom combining and trucking. In 1961 he began employment with the State Highway Department and moved to Huron in 964. He retired in 1975. Survivors include his widow, Lois, Huron; five daughters, Mrs. Art (Sandra) Flindt, Newark, Ill., Mrs. Quincy (Sylvia) Ross, Lapeer, Mich., Mrs. Janice Poling, Trenton, Mich., Mrs. Frank (Carole) Schwartz, Colby, Kan., and Mrs. Dennis (Connie) Schnabel, Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Sidney Allen, De Smet; two nieces and one nephew. Friends may call at the Welter Funeral Home Monday evening or Tuesday afternoon or evening.
