Robert Wayne Wright was born March 17, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of William and Emma (Osterkamp) Wright. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1965. He entered the US Army on August 2, 1966 and was a Heavy Vehicle Driver for which he received a Letter of Commendation and a Certificate of Safety from the Army for his exceptional performance. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP5 on May 10, 1969. He married Judy Kay Murray on October 11, 1969, at the United Church of Christ in Tipton. He owned and operated his own business, Bob Wright Excavating and Bulldozing. He was an avid hunter, made several fishing trips to Canada, spent countless hours in the woods foraging morel mushrooms and was a loyal NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed watching cooking shows, Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Mountain Men TV shows and anything starring John Wayne. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. Above all, the time he spent preparing delicious meals for his family is what he valued most. Surviving are his wife, Judy of West Branch; one daughter, Michelle (Jay) Bierman of Wilton; two sons, Trent Wright of West Branch and Michael Wright of Iowa City; one grandson, Zachary Ahrens; one sister, Emma (Donald) Folkerts of Anamosa; and two brothers, Bruce (Trudy) Wright of Atalissa and Steve Wright of West Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Randy Wright, one nephew, Luke Wright and his grandparents, Paul and Mary Wright. Fry Funeral Home
