He, together with a passenger in his car, Marvin Morrow, hit nearly head-on with a car going south with nine passengers. In the other car were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd King and two children, 2 and 5 years, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woolsey, and Mrs. Judy Ann Smith and two children, 18 months and 7 months old. The nine persons from Centerville in the 1960 Oldsmobile had been to Marshalltown where they had gone to visit a half-brother who had been injured in a car-train crash. DuVall was pinned in the wreckage of his 1955 DeSoto. Sheriff Paul Thomas and deputy Harry Robertson and the sheriff's possee assisted in removing him from the wreckage. He was believed killed almost instantly, but was rushed to the Centerville hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Morrow, passenger with DuVall was not seriously injured. Four persons in the King car were hospitalized, the other passengers released after first aid treatment and examination. Robert Winston DuVall, 56, known to many of his friends as "Wimpy", was born on June 6, 1907, the son of Robert Lincoln and Clara Kinnemon DuVall. He was the last member of his immediate family, his father and mother and two brothers proceeding him in death. He was united in marriage to Reva May Comer on February 21, 1935. To this union were born two daughters. One died in infancy. He is, survived by his wife, and one daughter, Helen (Mrs. Veril Kaster) of Clinton, Iowa, and two grandsons, Timmy and Teddy. Mr. DuVall was born in Appanoose county near Moravia where he spent most of his life. He farmed until thirteen years ago, and was working at the Baxter Box company of Centerville at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Turner funeral home, with Rev. Elton Coleman officiating, with interment at Moravia Hillcrest cemetery.
