Description	:	COLUMBUS — Roberta Jean Brigham, 87, of Columbus, formerly of Shelby, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at David Place in David City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Shelby United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mike Flury officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Brigham was born July 25, 1926, on the Johnston family farm east of Osceola to Harvey "Jack" Miles and Hazel Beatrice (Braithwait) Johnston. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Neil of Columbus; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacky and Bill Uhler of Central City, Bonnie and Don Augustin of Shelby and Pam and Mark Caniglia of Omaha; a sister, Ardis Tibbetts of Bonney Lake, Wash.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Louise Johnston of York. Also surviving are six grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Uhler, Shane (Kelli) Augustin, Sarah (Adam) Classen, Justine (Ross) Miller, Anna Caniglia, Jonathan Caniglia; five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; and nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She attended Stoner country school and graduated from Osceola High School in 1943. She received normal training and taught country school in rural Polk County. On Aug. 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Neil Boardman Brigham at the United Brethern Church in York. To this union three daughters were born. The family lived on a farm north of Shelby, where Roberta was a homemaker and helped work on the farm. In 1981, they moved into Shelby. On Dec. 13, 2011, they moved to Meridian Gardens in Columbus where she lived until moving to David Place on Oct. 23, 2013. Over the years, Neil and Roberta spent many winters in Stuart and Homestead, Fla., and Apache Junction, Ariz. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shelby, United Methodist Women, Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, North Shelby Extension Club, Calico Club, and many card clubs. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards, camping and fishing. She especially enjoyed all of her family being together for holidays and special occasions.
