Rochelle was enthusiastic about politics, sports and the two careers she pursued. Her first career, after graduating from the University of Iowa in 1984, was in journalism. She was a reporter or an editor at The Daily Iowan, The Rochester [New York] Democrat and Chronicle, The Cedar Rapids Gazette, The Stanton Island Advance and the Hartford Currant. Even while putting in long hours as legal affairs editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rochelle attended law school at night at Georgia State University and also was the lead articles editor for the GSU Law Review. She graduated law school magnum cum laude in 1998 and a few months later resigned for the AJC to start her next career, in law. Rochelle spent almost two years on the staff of U.S. District Judge Aleta Arthur Trauger in Tennessee before returning to Atlanta to take a position in the anti-trust division of the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2002 Rochelle made another life change. She adopted Ben as a single parent and threw all that she had into making him a fabulous person. She led him to love the Braves as much as she did and to love the game as well. She and Ben went on adventures together to places like the Grand Canyon or to swim with the dolphins. They drove to her hometown of Morning Sun, Iowa, to enjoy the July 4th holiday as only a small Midwestern town can do. Rochelle had a cutting humor and a big heart, qualities she passed on to Ben, who spent the Sunday before he lost his mother feeding the homeless. Her last days were spent at Hospice Atlanta and she left us on her own terms; pain free and with her siblings and friends at her bedside. She is survived by her son, Ben; her mother, Marilyn Bozman; her siblings Jeff Bozman, Sandy Kerr and Brian Bozman; and a niece and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Richard Bozman. A memorial service is planned for Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at Manuel's Tavern on the corner of North and Highland Avenues in Atlanta. And there will be a funeral for her in her hometown, Morning Sun, Iowa, on Nov. 12. The Rev. Ramona Wink will officiate at the 1 p.m. service at the Presbyterian Church. There will be a reception and food at the church after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to research of treatments and to find a cure for ovarian cancer would be appreciated. But mostly Rochelle would want Ben to thrive in the unlimited love and affection of the "village" that has helped raise him so far.
