Behlers, 68, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery and military rites by American Legion Post 16, VFW Winter-Munson Post 1644 and the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team. He was born Aug 16, 1938, to Adrian and O'Linda (Heuermann) Behlers in West Point. He grew up in Pender and graduated from Pender High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force from June 20, 1956, to June 19, 1960. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California as a weapons systems mechanic. Upon leaving the service, he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Motorola and then for Texas Instrument Company. He attended North Texas State University at Denton. Rod moved to Chicago in 1968 and worked for Universal Business Machines before his return to Nebraska, where he settled permanently in 1975. He worked for Dale Electronics for 29 years and retired in 2003. He enjoyed his family, playing and coaching softball, played golf and was an avid Nebraska fan. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Rod married Diana L. Gloe on March 14, 1981, at S1. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. He is survived by his wife, Diana; two sons, Aaron and Christopher, and daughter, Kristen of Norfolk; a brother, Allen and his wife, Linda of Santa Maria, Calif.; and a sister, Gloria Moeller and her husband, Darrell of Wisner. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard and sister-in-law Renee Behlers. The Rev. Dr. Delmar D. Wiemers will officiate.
