Preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert Armstrong; brothers, Arthur and Dean Illingworth; parents, Grace and Joseph Illingworth; and grandson, Austin Armstrong. Survived by sons, Greg Armstrong (Oakdale, Calif.) and Jeff Armstrong (Atlanta, Ga.); grandchildren, Robert and Justin Armstrong of Waco, Texas (Greg) and Annie Armstrong of New York, New York (Jeff). Rogene was a gracious and loving person with everyone she knew. She graduated from Hastings College in 1949 with a degree in elementary education. She married J. Robert Armstrong in 1954 and they raised two sons, Greg and Jeff. Rogene loved music and taught piano to many Pueblo youths. She enjoyed her bridge companions but not always her cards. Years after becoming a widow (1985), she met Marion Drew and they became the closest of companions until Marion’s death in 2012. Mary Lucero provided her with constant care and companionship for her remaining years. Dogs were always a part of Rogene’s life and she had many. AB, her present dog, stood steadfast over her through her final minutes. She was an active member of the Pueblo community serving on the board of directors of the Pueblo Community College Foundation, President of Parkview Hospital Foundation, President of Parkview Hospital Auxiliary, Junior League, Rosemount Auxiliary and donated regularly to a host of other charitable organizations. She was proud of Pueblo and enjoyed the community to the fullest. Memorial contributions may be made to Pueblo Community College.
