Description	:	GREENS FORK -- Roger F. Doerstler, 79, of rural Greens Fork, passed away Dec. 2, 2003, after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Cambridge City, Ind., to Herbert M. and Hildren Rhoades Doerstler. He graduated from Hagerstown H.S. and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a well-known lifelong farmer in Wayne County. Mr. Doerstler was the first Hagerstown High School FFA member to receive the American Farmer Degree. Doerstler, 79, of rural Greens Fork, passed away Dec. 2, 2003, after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Cambridge City, Ind., to Herbert M. and Hildren Rhoades Doerstler. He graduated from Hagerstown H.S. and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a well-known lifelong farmer in Wayne County. Mr. Doerstler was the first Hagerstown High School FFA member to receive the American Farmer Degree. His years of dedication to his community was also recognized as recipient of the Jaycees Outstanding Farmer Award and Outstanding Friend and Neighbor Award at Hagerstown. He served on Wayne County Extension Committee, Wayne County 4-H Fair Board and vocational advisory committee at Hagerstown High School. As a lifelong Christian, he was a member of Central Christian Church in Richmond and had served in many offices and positions in the church throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth L. Shiebla Doerstler; three sons, Jim (wife Pat) Doerstler of Lynn, Mike (wife Nancy) of Greens Fork, Marvin (wife Loma) of Economy; a daughter, JoAnne (husband Dwayne) Crownover of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Graham of Chilton Texas; a brother, Darrell (wife Deborah) Doerstler of Cambridge City; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Joan Doestler. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Central Christian Church in Richmond with Rev. Sky Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greens Fork Cemetery in Greens Fork, Ind.
