Description	:	Roger H. Knapp succumbed Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston to lung cancer. He was born July 22, 1930, in Spokane, to parents Jasper H. and Alta E. (Keough) Knapp Sr., the third of eight children born to his parents. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Colville, Wash., where Roger spent the remainder of his childhood years. His high school years were spent attending the Colville High School through 1946, after which he entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea, followed by an honorable discharge. He was born July 22, 1930, in Spokane, to parents Jasper H. and Alta E. (Keough) Knapp Sr., the third of eight children born to his parents. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Colville, Wash., where Roger spent the remainder of his childhood years. His high school years were spent attending the Colville High School through 1946, after which he entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea, followed by an honorable discharge. Following a short stint working for his father, who operated sawmills at Inchelium and Orient, Wash., Roger moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and found employment with the Anchorage police force. He retired after 21 years for the Anchorage Police Department with the rank of corporal. Roger then moved to Vancouver, Wash. While living in Vancouver, he started a new post-retirement occupation by purchasing an "18 wheeler" moving van and worked for Mayflower moving company, traversing the U.S. moving Mayflower clients. Survivors include daughter Pamela (Steve) Braun of Spokane Valley; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister Barda Bedingfield of Colville, Wash.; brothers Jasper H. Knapp Jr. of Spangle, Wash., Daniel D. Knapp Sr. of Ione, Wash., and Kevin K.K. Knapp of Colville; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. The public is invited to Roger's funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Clarkston Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2673 13th St., Clarkston. A public graveside service and interment will take place at 2 p.m. Monday at the Evergreen Cemetery, Aladdin Highway, Colville. Lewiston Tribune October 24, 2013
