Hertema, 52, 2624 Reed Ave., who died Thursday, July 25 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, following an accident Wednesday night at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds, will be 10 am. Monday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Needham will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. He was born Sept. 15, 1938 in Marshalltown to Harm and Theone Rowe Hertema. He attended Beaman school and also attended Iowa State University. He graduated from the Reisch Auction College in Mason City. He married Bonnie Oswald May 13, 1976 in Boone. At the time of his death, he was an account supervisor for the Landco Group in Waterloo. He was vice president of the Marshall County Fair Board. He was also on the board of directors of Hawkeye Insitute of Technology as a member of the advisory committee. He was a judge for the VICA youth organization, a judge for PAS and had served as a lecturer and helped secure new equipment for farm laboratories at Hawkeye Technical in Waterloo. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and was a beef judge for many county livestock shows. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; his mother, Theone Hertema, Arizona City, Az.; his grandmother, Mayme ' Rowe, Gladbrook; four children, Lana Hertema, Kansas City, Mo., Echo (Mrs. Jeff) Johnson, Derby, Kansas, ; Tracy (Mrs. Joel) Bolar, Marshalltown, and Shawn Hovel, Marshalltown; three grandchildren; a sister, Lonna Cathcart, Gladbrook.
