Description	:	Roger John Wilson was born on March 25, 1932 in Buck Creek, Iowa to John Oliver and Bessie Evageline (Hill) Wilson. He graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1949 and letered in baseball and basketball for four years and sang in the chorus. He graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1953 with a degree in Music. Roger served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, taking basic training at Camp Pickett, Virginia. He served in Japan, Korea and then Hawaii. Read More	Roger John Wilson was born on March 25, 1932 in Buck Creek, Iowa to John Oliver and Bessie Evageline (Hill) Wilson. He graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1949 and letered in baseball and basketball for four years and sang in the chorus. He graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1953 with a degree in Music. Roger served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, taking basic training at Camp Pickett, Virginia. He served in Japan, Korea and then Hawaii. After being discharged from the service, he started working at Hopkington Coop Creamery making cheese. He married Janice Willard on January 26, 1958. Roger moved to Slater in November of 1961 as the head cheese maker. He then worked for Dairyland Dairy in Des Moines from 1965 to 1971. Dairyland sold out to a Ottumwa Dairy and spent three months living in a hotel. Roger had a chance to open a Dairy Queen in Polk City and in May of 1972 they opened in Polk City. He then took a job at Prairie Farms Dairy. They sold the Dairy Queen in 1987 and he retired from Roberts Dairy (Prairie Farms) on October 31, 1997. Rober enjoyed golfing with his buddies, singing in the choir and woodworking. Roger passed away July 21, 2016 at the Madrid Home in Madrid at the age of 84. Roger is survived by his wife Jan of the Madrid Home; children, Diann (Gary) McMillen of Grimes; Stuart Wilson of Boone and Steven (Laura) Wilson of North Mankato, MN and granddaughter, Jordyn Berry of Cedar Rapids.
