Description	:	Funeral Services for Roger Lang, age 83, of O’Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 am Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in O’Neill. Burial will follow in the O’Neill Cemetery with Military Rites provided by VFW Post 926 and O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93. Roger Lee Lang was born January 4, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the youngest of 12 children. Roger enlisted in the United States Navy on March 21, 1954. In the Navy he worked as an Ordinance Mechanic for 24 years. Roger was proud to be an American and his biggest honor in life was serving his country. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for 20 years in maintenance at a school in California. On June 24, 1989 he married Sharon Hoxsie in Glendora, California. The couple made their home in O’Neill where Roger worked as a handyman. He worked until his health slowed him down. Roger served as a State Commander of VFW and was a lifetime VFW member. Roger was known in town for his white pickup truck decorated with the patriotic decals. He enjoyed frequently visiting Dairy Queen where he could visit with fellow patrons and friends. He enjoyed tinkering with carpentry and hanging windows and doors. He liked the outdoors; taking care of his yard, hunting and fishing. He loved traveling to his ship reunions and sharing his Navy stories with friends. Roger is survived by his step-children; Alyce Jackson of San Dimas, CA, Lee Jackson of Montclair, CA, and Gary Carness of CA; sister-in-law, Janice Maurice of Lake Havasu, AZ, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon in 2013, and all of his siblings.
