Death was following a period of declining health. He was born August 3, 1951, in Philippi, a son of Hubert Burton Nestor who survives in Moatsville and to the late Savannah Mae McVicker Nestor. On August 9, 1975, at Belington, he was united in marriage to the former Reta Jean Haney, who survives at their home in Belington. In addition to his father and wife he is survived by one son; Jared Nestor and wife Kim of Belington, one daughter; Stephanie Deem and husband Rob of Harrisville, WV, three sisters; Nancy Righman and husband Jerry of Nestorville, Alicia Duckworth and husband J.R. and Kelli Harris and husband Mark all of Moatsville, two brothers; Dewayne Nestor and wife Teresa of Nestorville, and Greg Nestor and wife Carolyn of Moatsville, three grandchildren; Marshall and Cade Nestor, and Brooklynn Deem, and two step grandchildren Ryder, and Mackenzie Deem and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by one infant sister; Cathy Nestor. Roger was a 1969 graduate of Philip Barbour High School and a graduate of the West Virginia University where he received his Master’s degree in plant science. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and was an elder of Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, where he had attended for many years. Roger was a member of numerous Barbour County Leadership Organizations where he devoted a lot of time in the furtherance of these causes. The highlights of his professional career include 22 trips to the National Soil judging competition in Oklahoma, spanning from 1986 – 2016, in which he brought home 16 National Championships. Another highlight of Roger’s career was being inducted into the West Virginia Agriculture Hall of Fame. Roger was best known as the Barbour County West Virginia University Extension Agent for several years from which he retired. The lives Roger touched throughout his life whether it be thru his professional career or his faith is indeed countless. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends will be received from the Light of Christ Chapel 11 East Crim Ave in Belington . Final rites will be conducted from the Church Sanctuary with the Rev Jimmie E. Tallman and Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Interment to follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Roger Lee Nestor.
