Description	:	Roger Ray Negen, age 74, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of George and Anna Harriet (Endelman) Negen on September 25, 1943, Waverly, Iowa. He received his education from Jackson #2 rural country school near his home, graduated from Clarksville High School in 1961, and attended a year at Iowa State College in Ames. Read More	Roger Ray Negen, age 74, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of George and Anna Harriet (Endelman) Negen on September 25, 1943, Waverly, Iowa. He received his education from Jackson #2 rural country school near his home, graduated from Clarksville High School in 1961, and attended a year at Iowa State College in Ames. On September 7, 1963, Roger was united in marriage with Donna Kay Neal at the Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. The couple made their home in Waverly for a short time and then moved to Clarksville in February of 1969 to their present home. Roger was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Community United Methodist Church. Through the years Roger drove milk truck for High Grade Foods, for 38 years he worked at Carnation later known as Nestle retiring in 2002, and he also farmed with his father, George. Roger was an active and faithful member of Community United Methodist Church where he had served on the church board. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring four ½ of his Dad’s old Ford tractors. He enjoyed animals and was on the 4H State Judging Team for many years. He also very much enjoyed raising and showing Beef Cattle, a tradition that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Roger loved riding and working with horses. In his younger days they farmed with horses, he raced pony chariots, and rode his Palomino horse as the Grand Marshal for the Clarksville Indian’s Home Coming Parade, dressed in Indian attire, his senior year. He was one of the founding fathers of the Clarksville Freestyle Club and Clarksville Quarterback Club, loved wrestling, football and watching the Iowa, Iowa State and U.N.I. college athletics. He was proud of Clarksville and enjoyed all the yearly activities. His wife, children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he especially loved attending all their various events. Roger passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville of natural causes. He was preceded in death by one son, Troy Steven Negen, and his parents. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna Negen; two sons, Jeff (Lisa) Negen of Clarksville, and Mike (Teresa) Negen of Clarksville; one daughter, Kristin (Brian) Jacobs of Clarksville; eight grandchildren, Tim, Matt & Bethany Negen, Cael, Cole & Cooper Negen, and Bryce & Kayla Jacobs; one brother, Daryl “Woody” (Denise) Negen of Waterloo; one nephew, Ryan (Laura) Negen and their children, Carter & Avery of Waterloo; one niece, Melissa (Mike) Wildes and their daughter, Mackenzie of Waterloo. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at the Community United Methodist Church, with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements.
