Born Feb. 14, 1922, in Monticello, he was the son of Joseph A. "Bert" and Ethel Mae Schnepp Bowsher. On March 7, 1942, he was married in White County to Betty J. Reeve, who survives. Mr. Bowsher had lived in Monticello all of his life. He graduated in 1940 from Monticello High School, and served in the U.S. Navy Seabee's during World War II. Mr. Bowsher and Art Nuchols started Lakes TV in Monticello in 1949 and ran it for 10 years. He also was on the Monticello Police Force in 1950. In 1959, Mr. Bowsher and Bill Rogers started B&R Furniture Store and operated it over 25 years. The Union Township Trustee for 12 years, he was chairman of the Union Township Advisory Board. Mr. Bowsher was a member of the Monticello Church of the Nazarene for over 30 years, belonged to the Amercian Legion and Monticello IOOF Lodge 107, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He managed the Country Termites music group for several years. He received the George Armstrong Spencer Award in 1992. Mr. Bowsher also was active in White County 4-H and helped start the 4-H Horse and Pony Club. Also surviving are three sisters, June Nace, Monticello, Shirley Caudle, Terreton, Idaho, and Mildred McCoy, Battle Ground; and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers preceded in death. Burial, with military rites, will be in Riverview IOOF Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, where IOOF services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
