Macy was born Aug. 3, 1927, to Roland E. and Bessie Francis Macy in Iowa Falls, Iowa. While growing up he helped his parents operate Macy Hatchery and Macy Farm Store and attended school in Iowa Falls, graduating from Iowa Falls High School in 1945. He served in the Army from 1945 to his honorable discharge in Dec. 1946. He attended Iowa State College for two years in 1947-48, and while there met Jacqueline Dolph of Hingham, Mont. They were married July 8, 1952, on the CBS-TV show "Bride and Groom" in New York City. He and Jackie lived and raised their family in Normal, Ill., for more than 30 years. He worked in the agricultural feed and chemical industries as a sales representative and consultant for more than 35 years. For this work he traveled throughout Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He and Jackie retired to the west shore of Flathead Lake in Polson in 1988. Macy was very active in the Shrine and was founder in 1975 of the Illinois Shrine All-Star Football Game, which has raised more than $250,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He was also a member of the Masonic Order from 1950 on and was past master of the Polson Lodge. A dedicated Rotarian since 1966, Macy attended Rotary no matter where he traveled and earned a 25-year perfect attendance award in 1996. In retirement he enjoyed card playing (especially "Pan"), traveling with Jackie, visiting his children and grandchildren and participating in the Polson Model Train Club. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his ready smile and hearty laugh and his sense of humor. Macy is survived by his wife, Jackie of Polson; daughter, Nan of Seattle; son Rusty, daughter-in-law Cathy and grandchildren, Patrick and Lindsey, all of Redmond, Wash.; and many friends.
