He served with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years, retiring in 1962 as assistant postmaster in Waterbury. He was a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America, the Federation of Post Office Clerks and the Postal Supervisors Union, all in Vermont, and The Grange in Bradenton and Vermont.
