She was born in Meade, Kansas on September 2, 1914 to George and Mildred Hinsdale. Denver, Colo. -- Rolena"Irene" Slane died August 14, 2012 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 97. She was born in Meade, Kansas on September 2, 1914 to George and Mildred Hinsdale. Irene worked at Boeing Aircraft during World War II. After the war she was a reweaver for many years and later worked for the Sisters of St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. Irene married Elwyn E. Slane on January 1, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas. She and her husband, Elwyn, retired in Neodesha, Kansas and later, briefly, in Greensburg, Kansas. Soon after Elwyn's death in 2000, she moved to Denver, Colorado. Irene was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Powell, and brothers Virgil and James Hinsdale. She is survived and sorely missed by many nieces, nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Irene loved poetry and could amazingly quote a poem on any subject. There is no person who ever met this beautiful woman who did not love her. Services to be held at a later date.
