Life Outlined: He was born at Wyoming July 27, 1866, son of George W. and Phoebe James. He was married to Mattie Williams October 30, 1889, who passed away in 1921. He lived in Cedar Rapids for 52 years and was an employee of Wilson and Company for many years, until he retired in 1942. He passed away Monday, April 7, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harriet Burrows, Vinton. Survivors Named: Surviving is another daughter, Clarice, Mrs. Edward Wirth, Monticello; four half-sisters, Mrs. J. C. Glenn, Independence, Cora Hayden, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Dale Swordes, Maquoketa, and Mrs. Ernest Reitz, Wyoming; two half-brothers, Lee James, Pasadena, Calif., and Raymond James of Olin. Mr. James was a member of the Kenwood Park Methodist church, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers, Ed, Walter and Freddie.
