Description	:	Funeral services for Rolland Hillman, 87, of Grand Junction, will be held at 10:30am Saturday, April 27, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. Interment will be in the Junction Township Cemetery. Visitation with family present to greet friends is from is from 5:00 – 7:00pm Friday, April 26 at First United Methodist Church, Grand Junction. Memorials are suggested to Grand Junction Fire and Rescue. Rolland Eugene Hillman was born June 6, 1931 in Grand Junction, Iowa to Payson and Bernice Hillman. In February 1950, Rolland married Doris Vanhorn. They were the parents of four children: Renee, Steve, David and Pam. Rolland worked as a meat cutter all his life, starting in Grand Junction, then Jefferson, and finally 37 years at the Boone Fareway Grocery Store. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 75 years, and was active in Methodist Men. Rolland was Scout Master for Troop 37 for many years, receiving Scouting’s Silver Beaver Award. He also loved golfing, skiing, gardening, wood working, toll painting, and traveling. He loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and attended most school activities, events, and birthday parties. Rolland passed away April 22, 2019 in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris, who died September 16, 2004; his son, David, who died July 9, 1992; his sister, Norma Scaglione; and his son-in-law, Jerry Rains. Surviving are Rolland’s three children: Renee, Steve and Pam; his Swedish son, AFS student, Lars; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Michelle; other relatives and friends.
