Read More	Rolland Gerald McKibben, 85, Kokomo, Indiana, passed into God’s loving arms at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on September 16, 1930, to the late Rolland and Oliene (Coy) McKibben. Throughout his life, Rolland was an influential member of the Kokomo community. Not only did he build hundreds of homes in Kokomo and the surrounding area, he was routinely a leader in impacting legislation that affected all aspects of life. Before founding his own business, Rolland McKibben worked for thirteen years at American Standard Pottery. In 1963, he started building homes in Kokomo and incorporated McKibben Construction in 1967. He developed many subdivisions in Kokomo including: Westdale, Brookside, Brookshire, and Brookshire Estates. Rolland, along with his son Gary,built and remodeled several churches in Kokomo, including the Apostolic Lighthouse, Bon Air Nazarene, Mt. Pisgah and the Second Baptist Church. Rolland also built a Shell Filling Station, a medical building, the Eagles Lodge Building and remodeled the State Security Life Insurance building. Rolland was a founding member of the Home Builders Association in Howard County. He owned McKibben realty and was a member of the Realtor’s Association of Central Indiana and Brookside Free Methodist Church. Rolland touched the lives of everyone he had met. He shared his love of poetry with his closest family members and always had a joke tucked away for special occasions. He was quick with kind words and would make it known to whoever would listen how beautiful his family was to him. Rolland had a weak spot and it was his love for sweets. There was never a bad dessert. Rolland was a man with a huge heart and an adorable laugh. His presence in a room made the world a happier place. Rolland was loved by his family and will be missed more than words can describe. He is survived by his wife Opal McKibben; his son Gary McKibben Sr. and wife Carole McKibben; daughter-in-law Eunice McKibben; his four grandchildren: Amber and Zak Duncan and children Aly and Taylor, Michael and Kara McKibben and children Marlee and Cole, Gary and Jennifer McKibben and daughter Alexandria; Christopher and Amber McKibben and son Rolland; Step-grandchildren Ashley Moore and Jeremy Stalhood; and his step-daughters Penny and husband Steve McKibben, Marsha and Scott Ramburg. He was preceded in death by his son Michael McKibben; his parents Rolland and Oliene (Coy) McKibben; his brothers George, James, and Robert McKibben; and his step-son Anthony Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Rev. Doug Benham officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with family from 3-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
