Description	:	Rollin Tucker, son of Rollin and Caroline Maxwell Tucker, was born at Richmond, Indiana, March 6, 1871, and passed away at his home February 19, 1949, at the age of almost 78 years. The family moved to St. John, Kansas when Rollin was 11 years old. He graduated from high school there, and came to Farmington about 1893, and has lived here ever since with the exception of a year or more in Mendota, Missouri. He began clerking for the J. W. Read More	Rollin Tucker, son of Rollin and Caroline Maxwell Tucker, was born at Richmond, Indiana, March 6, 1871, and passed away at his home February 19, 1949, at the age of almost 78 years. The family moved to St. John, Kansas when Rollin was 11 years old. He graduated from high school there, and came to Farmington about 1893, and has lived here ever since with the exception of a year or more in Mendota, Missouri. He began clerking for the J. W. Miller Co., in 1894, then worked with the Booth Mercantile Co.,here and in What Cheer, Iowa. Later he returned to work in the Miller Co., in Farmington, remaining there several years. Rollin became manager of the Benteco store when it was established in Farmington, and remained in that position until he retired from business. Mr. Tucker was a successful merchant. Whether a clerk or proprietor, he was liked by young and old, and was courteous toward all. He was blest with a sense of humor. Rollin was married to Clara Bonn at Primrose, Iowa, in 1897. She preceded him in death. Three children were born to them: Estell, now Mrs. Ralph Hollin; Ellen, now Mrs. Thelbert Turner; and Horton. On September 2, 1914, he was married to Florence Mae Vance in Des Moines, Iowa. Four sons and a daughter resulted: Elwood, Maxwell, Merle, Norval, and Sara Mae. Mr. Tucker was a birth rite member of the Friends Church and a fifty year Mason. The first delegate to the Great Council of Red Men in Iowa, and also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a kind father and husband, and devoted to the interests of his family; generous, and unselfish, and always happy to help others. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Hollin of Milton, Iowa, Mrs. Thelbert Turner, Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Harold Jemison, Keosauqua, Iowa; five sons, Elwood of Farmington, Horton of Sibley, Iowa, Maxwell of Brookings, South Dakota, Merle and Norval of Farmington; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. W. H. Knott of Farmington, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Services were held at the Baptist Church February 21, 1949 at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Harold Thomas, with burial in the Farmington Cemetery. Masonic rites were held at the graveside. NOTE: Rollin Tucker was the step-father of Elwood Frank Vance.
