She grew up on the farm near Elkhorn and she attended country school through the 8th grade before graduating from Elkhorn High School in 1938. Read More	Obituary for Roma Marie Widhalm Roma Marie (Quinn) Widhalm was born on January 31, 1921 in Elkhorn, Nebraska to Jesse and Pearl (Grewcock) Quinn. She grew up on the farm near Elkhorn and she attended country school through the 8th grade before graduating from Elkhorn High School in 1938. As a young girl, Roma was active in Pep Club and school plays but concentrated much of her efforts helping with chores around the farm. Roma married Richard Widhalm on December 1, 1937 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gretna, Nebraska and to this union four children were born: Jesse, John, Anita and Kathryn. Roma and Richard always made their home in Elkhorn. Early on, Roma was a full time wife and mother and then she worked at Douglas County Soil Conservation, Elkhorn Library and at the Bank of Elkhorn. She was active in Extension Club, Elkhorn High School Reunion Committee and Bible Study. Roma had a great sense of humor, she was both fun and funny. Roma was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn. She enjoyed dancing to Big Band music and was a world traveller. Roma had the thrill of a lifetime when she found herself looking down the barrel of a gun during a bank robbery. She also had a great surprise when she and her friends on their way to a Catholic retreat stopped at what they thought was a Stuckey’s Restaurant only to find out it was Shaker’s Gentleman’s Club and they were inform that they probably did not want to come in. Roma passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Gateway Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 90 years 9 months and 2days. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Pearl, husband Richard and grandchildren Diana Webster and Scott Seerley. Roma is survived by children Kathryn and Raymond Aguirre of Lincoln, Anita and Ken Daggett of Beaverton, OR, John Widhalm of Fleming, CO, Jesse and Barbara Widhalm of Lincoln. 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Sister Faye Ehrlich of Elkhorn. Widhalm, Roma age 90 of Lincoln, formerly of Elkhorn. Preceded in death by husband Richard and grandchildren Diana Webster and Scott Seerley; survived by children Kathryn and Raymond Aguirre of Lincoln, Anita and Ken Daggertt of Beaverton, OR, John Widhalm of Fleming, CO, Jesse and Barbara Widhalm of Lincoln. 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Sister Faye Ehrlich of Elkhorn. Visitation Sunday from noon to 7 Pm with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 Pm at the funeral home. Wake service at 7 PM. Funeral mass Monday at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn; Private inurnment. Memorials to the church or Open Door Mission.
