Romona O Meldrem was the daughter of R Ervie and Alice Eliza Hull Meldrem. The family moved to Iowa and settled near Malcom and Brooklyn, Iowa. She attended public schools in Malcom and graduated from Malcom High School in 1947. She was married to Harold A Thompson in Grinnell, Iowa November 1947. They were the parents of Dennis, Steven, Douglas, Jerald, Roger, Andy Thompson and Calvin Turner. The couple lived in Grinnell and besides being a mother and homemaker she worked at the Grinnell Shoe Factory and the Morrison-Shults Glove Company. They also owned and operated the Courtesy Cab Company in Grinnell. They later resided in California and following her husband's death she lived in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She moved to Grinnell in 2011. Romona enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, solving puzzles and playing poker with her sons. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
