Burial was at the Memorial Cemetery of Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska. Ronald was born July 29, 1921, in Wausa, Nebraska, to Harry and Signe (Lindquist) Skalberg. He grew up and attended school in the area and helped his father farm in Wausa, Nebraska until entering the Navy in World War 11. Ronald served from June 7, 1942, until being discharged in December 1945. He was stationed in Northern Africa, Sicily, Normandy, and Okinawa aboard the USS Charles Carroll. After his discharge he moved to Coleridge, Nebraska, where he operated a meat market for a couple of years and then moved to Fremont, Nebraska. He worked at the former Safeway Store in downtown Fremont as a meat cutter until 1974, when he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a meat cutter at the Super Saver in Lincoln, Nebraska for 10 years until retiring and returning to Fremont, Nebraska in 1986. Ronald married Marilyn Paden September 13, 1975, at the First Methodist Church, Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife; his son, Craig; Ronda and her husband Paul Bending, Atlanta, Georgia; step-son, Rodney Wilson, Frmont, Nebraska; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Ronald's twin, Richard, and James Skalberg; and siter, Janet Uttecht. Memorials can be made to the Fremont Area Medica Foundation, 402-721-3490.
