Ronald Duane Gosch was born July 10, 1938, in Cleghorn, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Ethel (Atkins) Gosch. He moved with his parents to Mapleton as a child. He was then baptized at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton. He graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1956. On Oct. 5, 1958, he was united in marriage to Delores Kruse at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army from February 1958 to March 1961. The couple lived in California from 1963 to 1965. He farmed from 1968 to 1986, then worked for Maple Valley School as head custodian from 1986 until his retirement in June 2004. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Western Iowa Cycle Club and the Retreads. The pride of his life was found in his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Delores; his mother, Ethel Gosch; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Jay Voigt; two sons and their wives, Duane and Diane Gosch and Randy and Jackie Gosch, all of Mapleton; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Robert and JoAnn Gosch of Smithland, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Lu and Robert Sparks of Palm Dessert, Calif.; several other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon; a grandson, Michael Gosch; a sister, Alta Blackman; and a brother, Verlyn Gosch
